…to our blog. This was born, first and foremost, out of friendship.
We have known one another for almost thirty years. We meet sporadically and when we do the conversations are a deep dive into life, relationships, joy and struggle. There are tears and there is laughter. We are women who love to reflect on life and share our discoveries. We come away richer, more alive, more understood to ourselves and each other. We want you to feel this too!
Along the way, we both took professional training. Our professional experience is woven into our conversations and is offered here and to each other in terms of resources. Hester is a psychotherapist and counsellor. She trained for six years and has two diplomas and an MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy. The humanistic, relational approach puts her clients in the driving seat to find their own solutions to their dilemmas or inner conflicts. She works in private practice, lives in rural Dorset, has two children, plus a dog called Claude, and has been married to Phil for 15 years.
Emma’s professional life has taken many a twist and turn from initially working in local government, to owing an art gallery for 13 years, working for an outdoor education charity and currently as joint owner of a training and consultancy business that specialises in off-ground activities such as adventure parks, ziplines, climbing walls and ropes courses! Her own self-reflective journey started when she and her business partner had 18 months of business coaching and she came across the wonderful work of Brené Brown, which literally turned her world upside down (in a good way!). She went on to attend workshops run by The Hobbs Consultancy including Daring Greatly™ and is Dare to Lead™ Trained. Starting during the COVID 19 pandemic she studied to become a Resilience and Life Coach gaining her qualification in 2021. Alongside her current business she is exploring her passion to support small female led businesses acting as a guide and mentor using her practical experience of owning businesses as well as her coaching skills. She has recently moved to the Isle of Skye with her partner Harry who she has been with for over 20 years.
We chose the name two truths to reflect that in most situations there is usually both/and…multiple things can be true at the same time…you can feel more that one thing at time.
Here we will explore what it can mean to live with this apparent tension and make room for all experiences and feelings without judgement.
